Hi! Kelly Starbuck here.

Kelly Starbuck is a portrait, commercial, editorial, and fine art photographer known for capturing the authentic personality and essence of every subject. A native of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Kelly began her photography career in New York City, apprenticing under internationally acclaimed photographer Fernando Bengoechea. Bengoechea, who was vacationing in Sri Lanka with his partner, celebrity interior designer Nate Berkus, tragically lost his life in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, while Berkus miraculously survived.

After 14 years in NYC, Kelly returned to Wilmington, establishing her business near her family roots in Wrightsville Beach. She collaborates with businesses, professionals, and individuals to create customized photography that elevates brands and tells compelling stories—whether for headshots, fashion, product, lifestyle, family, or even pet portraits.

Passionate about the arts, Kelly has curated fine art photography exhibitions featuring both local and national talent, earning significant media attention. Her own photography has been exhibited in New York’s Chelsea art district, The Cameron Art Museum, SALT Studio Gallery, Art in Bloom, and The Arts Council of Wilmington. Her editorial and fine art work has appeared on ABC’s Secrets & Lies, Larry King Live, The Sundance Channel, PBS’s North Carolina Weekend, The New York Times, Town & Country, Southern Living, Hachette Book Group, Delmark Records, and numerous local publications.

When not behind the camera, Kelly enjoys floral design, volunteering with the Harbor Island Garden Club, live music and the coastal lifestyle that inspires her work.
